Slide There are three sections of families covered under PMAY:
Economically Weaker Section (EWS): Households earning less than Rs 3 lakhs.
Low Income Group (LIG): Households having income from Rs 3 lakhs to 6 lakhs
Medium Income Group (MIG1): Household having income below Rs 12 lakhs comes under this category provided they have to furnish relevant document to support their claim.

Medium Income Group (MIG2): Household having income from Rs 12 to Rs 18 lakhs.

One can apply under PMAY, even if the home is under the name of one or more parents, but the applicant falls in one of these three categories.

Additionally, all minorities are covered under this category. To avail this scheme, they have to provide relevant document like caste and income certificates.
A customer can take housing loan of up to 95% the value of the property, under PMAY. The financial assistance can vary from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 2.30 lakh.

Under PMAY, the cost of the scheme will be shared between the State and Central Governments in the ratio of 6:4 in plain areas and 9:1 in the Hilly and North Eastern States. Under this scheme a financial assistance of Rs 1,20,000 is offered to the target family in the plain areas and Rs 1,30,000 in the Hilly States/ North Eastern States, along with the optional loan of taking a loan from a financial institute.
PMAY Scheme  

The implementation would be in three manageable stages:

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Phase 1

From April 2015 to March 2017, covering an aggregate of 100 urban areas.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Phase 2

From April 2017 to March 2019 and cover an aggregate of 200 more urban communities.

Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Phase 3

From April 2019 to March 2022 and cover the remaining urban communities. Would be secured and created. Click here for more details.

PMAY DISCLAIMER

Under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) {PMAY (U)}, demand survey is conducted by concerned ULBs, offline and online, free of cost. Online registration can also be made by eligible beneficiaries themselves through the Ministry website. Registration is also being facilitated by the State / UT Governments at their Common Service Centres (CSCs) at a nominal charge of Rs.25/- (Rupees twenty-five only) plus GST. This is for information of the general public that this Ministry has not authorized any private entity or person to collect money as a consideration for availing of any benefit under the PMAY (U) Mission.
